Texas Holdem Poker
Texas Holdem has become the most popular version of poker, and is played by billions of people all around the world. The rules for Texas Holdem Poker are fairly easy to pick up on, and the best way to learn Texas Holdem Poker Rules is to jump in and start playing with people who are willing to teach you!
Texas Hold em
- There are a maximum of ten players. The dealer is represented by a coin/button which is marked by a D.
- Two cards are dealt to each player starting from the player to the left of the dealer clockwise. There are three community flop cards that are dealt face down.
- The player to the left of the dealer is requested to post "Small Blind". This amount = Round (0.5*lower limit) to nearest $. If he decides not to he has to fold, that is, he is out of the current game. He has been dealt the cards face down.
- Similarly the player two places to the left is requested to post a "Big Blind". This is equal to the amount of the lower limit. If he decides not to he has to fold. He also has been dealt the cards face down.
- Each player now who has been dealt two cards face up (Pocket cards) has to bet or raise. The bet is equal to the lower limit, and it can be raised by the lower limit. If he doesn't he has the option to fold.
- After the initial round of betting, three cards are unturned face up, and another round of betting commences with the same betting limits.
- After two rounds, one card again is turned up and another round of betting is done. This time the bet is the higher limit, similarly the raise is the higher limit.
- In the last round of betting the last cards is turned over. This is called the "river". Here the same betting rules as the last round apply.
- Subsequent to this is the showdown where the cards of the remaining players are revealed and the better hand takes all the money from the pot.
Some Other Rules
- A new player has to play a Big Blind or sit out.
- The player who has posted a blind has the option to check or fold when his turn comes.
- If the player before you has checked you have the option to check and this goes on till the other player bets.
- The betting is capped as soon as a player has three rounds of bets.
- If there are two equal hands then the pot is split.
- If all the opponents of a player have folded the player has the option of not showing his cards.
Rules for Betting
- Totally there are four betting rounds.
- Each bet and raise is equal to the lower limit in the first two rounds.
- The round is over only when all the bets on the table are equal, except when there's an all in.
- Each bet and raise in the last two rounds is equal to the upper limit.
- There are four allowed max bets per player in the entire game.
- The maximum number of raises in a round can be three following which the bet is capped. On capping subsequent players may only call or fold.
